Helping someone in need brought a longtime friend of D4D co-founder Ed Kane back to Devices 4 the Disabled. She had come to pick up a cane, but she also knew she was returning to a place filled with memories.
Years earlier, what began as neighboring businesses had grown into a close friendship. They shared life together—work, family vacations, and countless memories. Like Ed, she had always been someone who looked for ways to help others, and this visit was no different.
"I almost didn't come because I knew it would make me miss Ed," she shared.
What she expected to be an emotional visit became something much more.
She spent time with Founding Director Bob Shea, sharing stories about Ed, remembering the friendship they shared, and reflecting on the many lives he touched. Before long, Bob called Ed's wife, and what began as a simple appointment became an unexpected reunion filled with stories, laughter, and the joy of reconnecting.
She came to D4D to help someone else. In return, she found old friends, shared memories, and a reminder of why this community means so much to so many people.
