John's Gratitude —A Power Wheelchair and a Renewed Spirit

John is the kind of person who radiates gratitude. Despite facing housing insecurity, multiple health issues, and overwhelming barriers, he uplifts everyone around him with kindness and optimism—even when it’s hard, and even when he feels like he’s fighting with everything he has just to get through the day.

When he came to Devices 4 the Disabled, he shared that his biggest wish was for a power wheelchair—something that could restore his independence and reduce the daily strain he endured. Thanks to the generosity of our donors and volunteers, we were able to provide exactly what he needed.

As he sat in his new power chair for the first time, his face lit up.

I’m so grateful,” he said, overwhelmed with emotion.

I’ve been praying for this for a long time.

Beyond the chair itself, we made sure John had the tools and support he needed to move forward safely. We provided a sturdy backpack so he could keep his important papers, medications, and personal items secure and close at hand. We also connected him with resources that could help him navigate ongoing support.

For John, this equipment is more than mobility. It’s freedom. It’s possibility. It’s stability. And most of all, it’s a reminder that he’s not alone.
