Adriana's Story: "I Can Finally Move."

Adriana arrived at the Devices 4 the Disabled clinic on a Wednesday morning, assisted by her mother and a D4D team member to get into the clinic and to a chair. Living with multiple sclerosis, even short walks has become difficult and unpredictable. Her mother held her arm tightly as they entered — each step slow, deliberate, and exhausting.

After being referred by one of our long-time partners at Mount Sinai, Adriana came hoping for tools that would help her reclaim her independence. Our team fitted her for both a walker and a transport chair. The walker would allow her to move safely at home and in familiar environments, while the transport chair would help her travel longer distances — to appointments and everyday errands she’d stopped attempting because it had become too difficult.

When Adriana stood up, gripped the walker, and took her first few steady steps, her face broke into a smile.

“I can finally move,” she said softly.

Her mother also smiled, and exhaled in relief — the kind of deep, quiet joy that fills a room.

With these tools, Adriana is walking farther and more confidently. The transport chair gives her the freedom to join her family on outings that once felt impossible. Step by step, her world is expanding again — and we’re honored to be part of her journey.
